Brown leather flight helmet meant for use by fighter and bomber crews. This helmet is in excellent condition.
The leather body shows next to no wear. The attached leather straps on the back of the helmet are in excellent condition with all snaps. The size adjusting strap and buckle is also present at rear. Each side of the face has four snaps for attaching the oxygen mask. Visor is lined with soft leather on the underside. Chinstrap is present and in excellent condition. Each ear has black hard rubber pockets for radio receivers. Above the left ear is a strongly stamped AAF insignia in white.
The interior is lined with chamois which is a soft leather that is made from the skin of goats, sheep, or chamois. The interior matches the exterior in excellent condition. Both ear-pads are present and in nice condition. The original label is present and reads in part “TYPE A-11 / SIZE LARGE /FOX CHASE KNITTING MILLS / PROPERTY AIR FORCES US ARMY.” There is also a stock number and contract number.
