Reunion ribbon for the 1st Rhode Island Cavalry’s 26th annual reunion held at Fields Point on August 9th, 1895. The 1st Rhode Island Cavalry began organizing in September 1861 and included a squadron (battalion) of New Hampshire troopers. The 1st RI Cavalry served in nearly all major engagements of the Army of the Potomac and Army of the Shenandoah, from March 1862 through Appomattox. The regiment especially distinguished itself at the battles of Front Royal, Brandy Station and General Philip Sheridan’s 1864 Shenandoah Valley campaign. There is approximately 1/8” fraying at the bottom of the ribbon and ¼” fraying at the top where the pin was emplaced. [JC]
