Very large iron hinge-type mold to cast 26 lead round balls. Twelve cavities on top and twelve on the bottom. Each side is complete with its own funnel/sprue cutter. Cavities measure approximately 0.35” each. This diameter bullet would be used in small-bore rifles. Mold is unmarked, likely hand forged. Moderate pitting. Measures 17” long overall.
These large gang molds are very uncommon.
From the collection of author/publisher Dean Thomas. [jet] [ph:L]
