A very nice military academy cadet sword with iron scabbard.
Cast brass cross guard, grip, and pommel. Cross guard shows no inspector marks. All brass has matching light patina. Grip is brass impressed to resemble wire which is similar to the NCO sword. Pommel cap is just loose enough to be able to spin.
Blade has a single central fuller on each side and is double edged. Blade is clean with some scattered pitting, mostly toward the tip. Etching shows light wear but remains visible with fan foliate / US surrounded by sun rays / caduceus emanating from shield, drum, etc. / foliate. Reverse etch is fan foliate / Eagle with EPU ribbon with sun burst above / stand of arms / foliate. One small nick on edge.
Steel scabbard has a frog stud mounted on an applied band. Drag, throat, and scabbard overall show little wear. No dings or dents. Beautiful pewter-gray color and smooth finish.
A very nice USMA Cadet sword. [jet] [ph:L]
