The full title of this two-volume work is “PENNSYLVANIA IN THE WAR OF THE REVOLUTION, BATTALIONS AND LINE 1775-1783” edited by John Blair Linn and William H. Egle, M.D. and published by Lane S. Heart, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in 1880.
Books are hardbound with marbled covers that have red leather corners and spine. Title is in good gold ink on the spine. Covers show minor wear from age and are wrapped in mylar. Top of spine on volume 2 is chipped.
Interior pages are clean but have yellowed with age. Binding on both volumes is very good. Each book has a full color front plate of a regimental flag.
Volumes meas. approx. 5.50 x 8.50 inches. Volume 1 runs 794 pages while Volume 2 runs 805 pages with index.
The book covers all Pennsylvania battalions and regiments along with narrative history, rosters and excerpts from order books.
Dean S. Thomas was known as a onetime Gettysburg Battlefield Guide and early relic hunter as well as the founder, owner, and operator of Thomas Publications. He was also the author of many books related to Civil War ammunition and projectiles. [ad] [PH:L]
