Poster proclaims “THE HEALTH OF THE CHILDREN IS THE POWER OF THE NATION” in white letters in a blue sky. Beneath the sky in a field of deep green grass 15 children, both boys and girls of various ages, walk hand in hand. The children are dressed in outfits of varying colors from blue and white stripes to light green, burnt orange and plain white. The children are shown carrying baskets, flowers and bags. Some even carry each other. At the bottom is a yellow bar with large brown lettering that reads “APRIL 1918 - CHILDREN’S YEAR - APRIL 1919” and below that “UNITED STATES CHILDREN’S BUREAU AND WOMAN’S COMMITTEE OF THE COUNCIL OF NATIONAL DEFENSE.” The borders of the piece are yellow and burnt orange. Poster has been framed with a blue acid free mat with cutouts to expose some of the orange border of the piece underneath. Frame is walnut in color. Small chip to the frame out the outside edge on the lower left side. Poster is in very good condition with bright colors. Framed it meas. approx. 39.00 inches long by 29.00 inches wide.
