Helmet is the Model 1940 with a rolled edge and impressed air vents.
Helmet is painted a dark gray color. The left side has the Luftwaffe decal which is 100% present. Exterior paint shows light wear from age, use and storage. There is a worn spot on the top of the crown that shows light surface rust. This is probably from the helmet being stored upside down and resting on the crown. All three liner rivets are present.
The interior of the helmet has paint that matches the exterior in color with light surface oxidation around the skirts. The leather liner is light brown with eight tongues and is still tied with the original string. It is stamped with a size “56.” Chinstrap and buckle are complete.
The inside back of the skirt is stamped with “743.” There is no visible acceptance mark in the crown, only a few light rust spots.
The left side of the skirt is stamped “ET64” which shows the helmet was manufactured by Eisenhüttenwerk Thale / Harz and is a size 64 centimeters or a US size 8. [ad] [ph:L]
