1940 pattern, stamped steel, box buckle, with a dark blue/black finish. The buckle features a smooth outer field with a central embossed, horizontally oval, laurel leaf wreath encompassing a slightly domed, pebbled inner field with an embossed second pattern Luftwaffe eagle at center. The blue/black finish is retained about 40% with a few small scuffs and scratches.
The reverse of the buckle is a mirror image of the obverse. The reverse has the brazed keeper and bar with two prongs for attaching to the leather belt. There is no maker’s mark. [ad] ph:L]
