Original WW2 German bayonet for “Karabiner 98K” Mauser bolt-action rifle. The bayonet comes with original blued steel scabbard and the original leather frog.
The frog is in great overall condition; the leather is soft and supple. All stitching and rivets are intact.
The bayonet is apparently unused and unsharpened with original blunt factory edge. The bayonet is approximately 15” overall; the blade is 10" long. The blade has retained its original gun-blue finish; the tip is intact. Smooth wood grips with only a couple of small dings. The release button is in perfect working order.
Ricasso is sharply stamped with "Coppel G.m.b.H." on one side and serial number 512 / j on the other. The spine of the blade is stamped "39" close to the cross guard. The scabbard has matching 512 / j stamp at the throat. The Waffenamt stamps on the bayonet’s pommel are WaA253; scabbard’s tip and release button are also stamped but unreadable. [jet] [ph:L]
