Shovel meas. approx. 22.00 inches long with a spade shaped iron head and a “T” shaped wood handle.

The spade head has been painted an OD green but is now discolored with scattered spots of surface rust and dirt, especially along the edge. The head is attached to the handle by an iron tang that is held by two round rivets and is stamped “US.” The back side of the tang is stamped “G8520.”

Handle is in good used condition with the “T” portion being held by an iron brace held by two round head rivets. Between the head tang and the brace the wood is stamped “US.”

Covering the head of the shovel is a khaki canvas cover marked “U.S.” on one side and maker marked “BEAKER” and dated “1917” on the other. Cover has the hooks for attaching to the web belt. Hook base has an inked “W” on its face. Cover has some light surface dirt scattered throughout.   [sr]  [ph:m]
