This is a Model 1917 German helmet that has been struck in several places.
Across the front of the crown is a row of large holes approx. 1.00 x 1.00 inch caused by a pick to make the helmet unserviceable or by shrapnel. Though there are three entrance holes there is only one exit hole at back. Top of the crown has a good sized dent while the visor has two small caliber bullet holes and one small dent.
Only one of the two lug type air vents are present. Exterior has a nice coat of original dark colored paint with a small area of wear at top.
Interior lacks the liner but does have both of the chinstrap studs.
Helmet is marked “Si 66” showing that it was made by Eisenhuette Silesia, Paruschowitz Oberschlesien and is a size 66 centimeters.
