The shell of this helmet is a World War Two manufactured rear seam, swivel bale made by Schlueter.The exterior surface has a lot of the original OD paint and finish but there is moderate scattered surface rust. The interior of the shell is clean and all original paint remains. Chinstraps are made of a woven green material and are sewn to the swivels. Strap catch is arrow and claw device of blackened iron.
Over the helmet shell is a reversible camouflage cover. The exposed side is fall brown while the underside is summer green. Cover is marked “COVER, HELMET CAMOUFLAGE/ CONTRACT NO. 9136 / 815-261-6833 / USA DPSC, DIR. OF. MFG.”
The interior liner is painted a dark green on the outside which has some chipping. The interior has a “tortoise shell” finish with a Vietnam era suspension system. Liner is marked “US” over “62” in the crown. [ad]
