British made US Model 1917 helmet with an OD painted exterior and light sand finish. Exterior shows light wear from age, use and storage. Helmet has no dents and no rust spots.
Painted on the helmet exterior is a 2.75 inch wide black band around the base of the crown with another one approx. 0.50 an inch wide around the apex of the crown and a circular dot at apex. Looking down on the helmet from above the paint gives the helmet a target look.
Interior liner of helmet is loose with a broken leather chinstrap. The black oilcloth of the liner is complete but a little dry with a small tear at front. Dot of white paint with collection number marked on the rim edge near chinstrap keeper. Also marked on the underside of the rim in black paint is “NORMAN C. WEBB #2357231 MOT. AMMUNITION TRAIN #112.”
