Item is a shield shaped wooden plaque with a brass disc tacked to the center. The disc bears the Army Air Force insignia of a white star with a red circle at center and gold wings coming off the star all on a blue field. Above this is a gold winged prop. The border has “U.S. ARMY AIR FORCES” in red with an exterior border of gold winged props and lines.

Stamped in the wood above the central disc is “SGT. JULIUS J. MOLNAR” while below the disc is stamped “PACIFIC THEATRE.”

The reverse of the plaque is maker marked “PROGRESSIVE SALES COMPANY, 1524 CHESTNUT STREET, PHILADELPHIA PENN.” Reverse also has an eyelet for hanging on the wall.

Records show three Julius J. Molnar in the US Army in World War Two. One from Ohio and two from Pennsylvania. One of the Pennsylvania men can be eliminated because he had no overseas service. The two remaining are Julius J. Molnar of Allegheny County, Pa. serial #33693349 and Julius J. Molnar of Lake, Ohio serial #35512136.

More research is needed.  [ad] [ph:L]
