Overseas cap is made of an OD green wool with red trim for artillery.
Pinned to one side of the cap is a blackened “US” pin. Some of the black finish has worn and there is some brass showing through. The opposite side has the two rank bars of a captain done in gold bullion thread that has tarnished. There is some wear to the threads and a small moth hole just forward of the insignia.
The rest of the exterior of the cap is in very nice condition.
The interior is lined with a black cotton. The sweatband is gone.
From the material used and the lining the cap appears to have been French made. [ad][ph:L]
