Shell casing is marked on the bottom with “75 DE C” for Canone 75mm De Campagne or 75mm Field Gun. This is followed by the lot number “669” and the date “16” for 1916. Maker’s code is the letter “H” but at this time the maker is not known.
Casing meas. approx. 11.50 inches tall and is decorated with a rose branch on a stippled field. The rest of the shell has been textured to look like tree bark. The top edge of the casing is curled out with scattered cracks from having been fired.
