The drawn bayonet meas. approx. 23.75 inches long from point to pommel. The blade is 18.75 inches with a sharp nasty sawtooth top edge. The true edge is free of nicks and shows signs of sharpening. The blade surface is bright with spotted mottling over the bottom third. One side of the ricasso is stamped with an “HS” over a Swiss cross while the other side is blank.
The elliptical guard and muzzle ring is bright and stamped with the number “44412” on one side. Wood grips are excellent and are held by two roundhead rivets. Iron pommel is bird head shaped and has a light coat of surface rust and an operable locking mechanism.
Scabbard is blued and free of dents. Bottom has a small ball finial and one side has a slot and leather tap for attaching to a frog. [AD] [PH:L]
