Album has 17 pages with photos on both sides of each page. Between each page is a thin piece of tissue paper. Altogether there are approx. 150 photos in the album. Just inside the front of the album is a 5x7 inch shot of a German soldier wearing his helmet and equipment standing at Attention beside a sentry box. The album itself begins with photos taken in 1936 and 1937. These shots show a German soldier in training and at home. There are four WW1 photos including one of some Germans sitting in what looks like a wood lined bunker. One of the German soldiers must be the father of the subject of this album. There are some wedding photos, some photos taken in Norway in 1942 and two photos of a soldier’s funeral.
The most interesting photos are toward the back. There are three photos of men standing in the street talking to each other. From the armbands on their clothes it can be determined that these are photographs of Jewish men in one of the many ghettos set up by the Nazi’s. On the same page is a photo of what looks like dejected Polish prisoners of war so all the photos may have been taken in Poland. Many of the photos in the album show soldiers in the field at work and at rest, in groups and individually. There are a few studio shots of soldiers also included and a handful of battle damage shots near the end. Covers are made of red leather and are strong. [ad]
