Each of these ribbons is in excellent condition, with only minor wear to the ribbon and virtually no wear to the official canteen membership badge.
The red and white ribbon features a central brass button, marked with the “stars and bars” Confederate flag, ringed by ruffles of alternating red and white silk. The ribbon tails of red flank a central white banner that reads “CONFEDERATE DAUGHTER”.
The official membership badge is canteen shaped, with a braided hanging cord. The condition is excellent, with no notable damage. The front shows a “DAUGHTER OF THE CONFEDERACY” with an engraving of a young woman, and the word “OFFICIAL” on the canteen’s cork. The reverse features a bouquet of roses, with a banner reading “REUNION LOUSIVILLE 1900”, and the name “Winnie Davis Rose” in script.
A very scarce opportunity to collect two pieces of Confederate veteran history in a wonderful condition. Each of these is an essential item for the collector of Civil War veteran artifacts and memorabilia. [cm] [ph:L]
