Interesting Confederate veteran’s ribbon from 1896.
Ribbon reads, “Sixth Annual Reunion U.C.V. and Laying Corner-Stone of Monument to President Jefferson Davis at Richmond, Va. June 30th, July 1st & 2d, 1896. Official D.A. Brown, Jr.”
Measures 2.25” wide by 7.5” long overall. Stamped brass eagle, silver plated, with spring pin on the back sits atop the ribbon. The ribbon proper is of white silk. Amid the printed text described above is a fine graphic Confederate battle flags behind a bust of Davis. The flags are printed in full color.
The piece, being silk, exhibits moderate wear and some fraying and separation. The whole piece is backed with paper which was done long ago.
A nice and colorful U.C.V. piece. [jet] [ph:L]
