Very nice two- piece badge from the United Confederate Veterans reunion. Top hangar has an image of the Robert E. Lee monument in Richmond. Wording below image reads, “RICHMOND, VIRGINIA, 1915”. Image below in circle is one of Richmond’s famous tobacco warehouses on the James River. Above this is the city’s motto, “SIC ITUR AD ASTRA” which means, "Thus do we reach the stars". Wording, “RICHMOND, VIRGINIA - FOUNDED BY WILLIAM BYRD” encircles image. Shows 1737 in Roman numerals. Original pin is present on reverse.
Suspended from this is a round medallion with a laurel leaf border. Top of medallion reads, “25th ANNUAL REUNION, U.C.V.” Image is a side view of Robert E. Lee with a Confederate flag in the background. Flag was painted red and blue, some of which has worn away.
Measures 3 ½” long. Brass has darkened with age, but retains some original gilt. [sl]
