This small canteen was given to veterans at GAR conventions and reunions as a souvenir. The canteen meas. approx. 2.25 inches across and has the sling loops, the cork stopper and chain as well as a red wool sling. The body is covered on both sides with a blue wool cover. One side is blank while the other is marked “WE DRANK FROM THE SAME CANTEEN 1861-1866” with a GAR star printed in black ink at center. The item is in good condition but the blue cover has a moderate moth hole on the back as well as some light surface dirt.
