No top bar. Ribbon has pin attached to the back.  The face of the ribbon has some soiling but badge is in very good condition. Obverse of medal has Maltese cross with blue enameled center surrounded by a laurel wreath. Blue field has “SUV” and “PRESERVED BY THE GRACE OF GOD, 1881” done in gold. Reverse is inscribed “SONS OF UNON VETERANS WAR SERVICE MEDAL.” This medal was given to members of the SUV who served in the Armed Forces of the United States during wartime.
