Top of the badge has a stamped brass spread-winged eagle above crossed cannons and a stack of cannonballs.
Suspended from the top is a white metal disc with a GAR badge embossed at center surrounded by “FRATERNITY CHARITY LOYALTY 1861-1865” while the reverse shows a regiment in line of battle with flags flying and officer’s posted in front with “IN REVIEW” across the bottom of the scene.
