Top bar is of stamped brass with a celluloid strip at center that reads “DELEGATE.” Original pin is present on reverse.
Suspended from the bar is a very nice red ribbon with gold lettering. Ribbon meas. approx. 2.00 x 1.50 inches. Strong lettering reads “FIFTY-SECOND ANNUAL ENCAMPMENT DEPARTMENT OF NEW YORK G.A.R. ITHACA JUNE 25-26-27, 1918.”
Hanging from the ribbon is a celluloid button with a bust photograph of the department commander with “WM. F. KIRCHNER, DEPT. COMMANDER.”
Wilhelm Kirchner served with the 15th New York Heavy Artillery. The regiment fought with the 5th Corps in the Overland Campaign as infantry.
