Top bar is of stamped brass with a celluloid strip at center that reads “DELEGATE.” Original pin is present on reverse.

Suspended from the bar is a very nice red ribbon with gold lettering. Ribbon meas. approx. 2.00 x 1.50 inches. Strong lettering reads “FIFTY-SECOND ANNUAL ENCAMPMENT DEPARTMENT OF NEW YORK G.A.R. ITHACA JUNE 25-26-27, 1918.”

Hanging from the ribbon is a celluloid button with a bust photograph of the department commander with “WM. F. KIRCHNER, DEPT. COMMANDER.”

Wilhelm Kirchner served with the 15^th New York Heavy Artillery. The regiment fought with the 5^th Corps in the Overland Campaign as infantry.
