Nice example of a Union veteran’s G.A.R. Slouch hat circa 1890-1920. Made of a quality black wool and fully lined with both a leather sweat band and a light blue cotton “bag type” adjustable crown liner. Located on the front is a gilt-brass badge of the organization G.A.R. (GRAND ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC) within a laurel wreath. It is in excellent condition for its age, with no sign of moth holes or damages. The head size looks to be ether 6 ¾ or 7. Unfortunately, no manufactures name on sweatband or crown.
