Badge consists of a 2.00 inch long red, white and blue ribbon supporting a white metal circular drop.

The obverse has a patriotic shield at center with a riband over it that reads “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and is surrounded by “UNION LEAGUE PHILADELPHIA 1776-1862” all within a border of stars.

The reverse reads “ORGANIZED DECEMBER 27, 1862” also within a border of stars.

The badge is pinned to a piece of whit stock.

The League is still active and its website gives the following information:

“Philadelphia laid the philosophical foundation of other Union Leagues across a nation torn by civil war. The League has hosted U.S. presidents, heads of state, industrialists, entertainers and dignitaries from around the globe and has proudly supported the American military in each conflict since the Civil War. The Union League continues to be driven by its founding motto, Amor Patriae Ducit or Love of Country Leads.”

Badge appears to date anywhere from the late 1860’s to the 1890’s but it is impossible to know for sure. [ad][ph:L]
