Ribbon is in memoriam of Dr. Charles Rynd (Rand). Composed of faded white silk and lettering in black. Item measures 6 ¾” long and 2 ½” wide with minor fraying on the top and bottom components.
A brief amount of internet searching produced one candidate, a Dr. Charles Rynd who was born in Ireland in 1835 and resided in Michigan. He is shown in Civil War draft registration documents, but no evidence of him actually serving during the war was found. Rynd died in 1884 at the age of 49. [mc/ld] [ph:L]
