$595.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: R19362

This is a large excavated Civil War artillery projectile in very good original condition and known to collectors as a 7” Dyer shell.

The cylindrical-shaped projectile measures approximately 13” tall and is without its lead sabot. The shell body is constructed of cast iron and at one time had a large lead sabot attached to the bottom. A zinc Parrott percussion fuse remains screwed into the nose and is in very good condition.

The projectile is in good, solid “dug” condition. Light surface pitting to the iron. Drilled on one side to empty powder out and render inert. Recovered near the James River near Richmond, Virginia.  [jet] [ph:M/L]
