The body of these epaulettes is a ribbed gold cloth. It is outlined with alternating strands of bright and dead bullion. The clamshell area is outlined with different material. It is a thicker weave of bright and dull bullion. The outside border of the clamshell has a double row of dead bullion. Instead of a pillow inside the clamshell there is a 5-pointed gold thread star while the field of the epaulette has a lined, silver half moon. The anchor buttons are rounded eagle buttons. The underside is lined with red cloth and leather. The bullion tassels are rather wide and in good condition. The underside of one epaulette is torn slightly and missing the anchor piece.
