The greatcoat is made from heavy weight blue wool, with a detachable cape and red cape lining to denote branch of service. The coat has a dark blue wool body lining to the waist, cotton sleeve linings and two inside pockets. There are five large eagle buttons on each side with corresponding button holes. Three of the original seven brass hooks for the cape remain around the collar. In very good condition overall with several scattered moth holes and a few small areas of stitch separation.
Accompanying cape is of heavy blue wool with red wool lining. Seven brass eyelets are in place. Eight small eagle buttons remain in place. Condition matches the greatcoat in regards to scattered mothing and minor seam separation.
Trousers are of a lighter weight blue wool. Trousers are unlined except around the waist which features white cotton band and pockets. Four tin buttons on the fly. Six brass suspender buttons around the waist. The straps at the rear, to adjust the waist, remain complete with patented buckle. A wide red stripe runs down the outside of each leg. The are two hip pockets and a small watch pocket. Again, condition matches other two pieces.
A nice complete and displayable Indian Wars-era uniform group. Very colorful. [jet]
