Pair of brass shoulder scales in overall good condition. The clamshells on these are solid in that they are made with an upper and lower plate as opposed to just being stamped like scales for the lower ranks. The body of these scales is also different from the lower ranks in that it is made up of 6 individual scalloped plates held together by a brass frame. Each of the 6 plates has three raised circles on the face. The underside of each scale still has the attachment spar. As is often the case the turnbuckles are not present.
The surface of the brass has a nice mellow patina. Each of the clamshells are dented on the bottom plate throwing off the symmetry somewhat but they still display well.
