Flag is made of cotton bunting and except for discoloration from age it is in very good condition with no rips or tears and only a few minor holes.
The flag meas. 8.00’ on the hoist and 12.00’ on the fly. Stars are sewn to each side and meas. approx. 4.00 inches across. Stars are arranged in a linear pattern.
The white muslin edge on the hoist side is marked “8 x 12” with an inked name that reads “ABRAHAM STRAUS.” Each corner of the muslin strip has a round brass grommet.
The 45 star flag was flown from 1896 to 1908 making it the flag of the Spanish-American War. [ad]
Note: We did not have enough open floor space to accomodate the entire flag so it is cut off at the at the lower left in the 1st photograph.
