These scales were meant for wear by NCO’s on the nine-button frock coat or the cavalry and artillery shell jackets. They are of multi-piece construction. Each brass scale was slid into place and held by a brass exterior frame. Then the solid clamshells were put on and the underside was riveted to hold everything together.
Both scales are complete, however the mounting bar on the underside of one of them has broken loose and needs to be resoldered or glued. One of the scales also retains the original leather backing.
Present with the scales are two brass turnbuckles and four brass coat anchors. [ad][ph:L]
