This half wreath and shield device was authorized for wear in 1859. The shield and wreath have a nice matching light patina. There are no attachment hooks on the shield and the wreath has one but the other is missing. These insignia are almost always encountered like this one, missing the bugle and “M” that would be at center of the shield.
