This is the first pattern light artillery saber with the recess under the counterguard for the scabbard. The pommel cap and counterguard are loose but are holding in place. Both have a dark rich patina. The blade is dark with light surface rust. No markings are visible. There are a few drips of white paint on the pommel cap and the blade. Recovered at Shiloh.
