Excavated U.S. Infantry officer’s coat button. Eagle with “I” in shield. In very good “relic” condition, the shank remains and stands up only slightly bent. Fancy button with perhaps 95% gilt remaining. “D. EVANS & CO. (star) ATTLEBORO MASS (star)” back mark with inner ring of slashes. Circa 1860's. Two-piece convex button, large coat size, 23mm.
