This 2.5” Britten projectile was used exclusively by the Confederates for their imported British Blakely rifled cannon. This is a solid iron “bolt.” The iron displays a dark brown tone with very nice smooth surface. There is one pronounced groove near the lower end as well as a number of lesser lathe rings above and below that. There would have been a lead sabot attached to the base.
