Civil War North Carolina state seal button with “NORTH CAROLINA” along the top edge and figures of Liberty and Plenty at center. Unmarked, but with small single star in the channel on the back. Lettering at upper left is good. At right less distinct with a push. Significant traces of original silver wash showing whitish in some letters and on upper portions of figures. Figures lack detail on the cornucopia, Constitution scroll, etc., but the Liberty Cap on the pole held by the reclining Liberty at right is distinct. Some brown corrosion at bottom right. Shank is broken off and missing. The single raised star in the depressed channel shows as a raised dot. See Albert NC8c and Tice NC210C1. Location of recovery unknown. A good, solid addition to a Confederate button collection. [sr] [ph:m/L]
