This is a relic condition Model 1842 Musket. It consists of a barrel, which is bent and appears to have the nose blown out. It also has the nose cap, front and rear barrel bands. Part of the trigger guard is also attached as well as the counter plate and the two lockplate screws. The wood that is still remaining has been attached to the barrel with epoxy glue. A light coat of lacquer covers the entire piece. This piece was recovered in a creek behind confederate lines at first Manassas.
