Here is an iron bullet mold for Army revolvers (.44 caliber). Two cavity type; one round ball, one “new model” conical ball. Typical Civil War-era mold in good relic condition; surface heavily pitted overall. Remnants of “Colt’s Patent” stamp remains on top of sprue cutter. Cavities show no pitting, dings, or scrapes. Mold opens and closes freely.

Iron hinge style mold with integral sprue cutter is attached at the end by a pin.

This mold is from the collection of author/publisher Dean Thomas and is one of the three molds pictured in his book, “Round Ball to Rimfire, Part Three” on page 82.   [jet]  [ph:L]
