Plate has a beautiful chocolate brown patina on the face which is also smooth and free of scratches. The details of the eagle stamping are very nice.
Reverse has 100% of the lead fill with one rusted iron hook that has been bent over and still holds a section of the leather sling. The back edge of the plate, around the edge of the section of leather, has been coated with lacquer.
Taped to the leather is an older modern tag that reads “SPOTSYLVANIA APRIL 1, 1985.” [ad][ph:L]
