Offered here is the breech portion cut from a heavy musket. Approximately 10.5” long with a visible touch hole and has had the breech plug removed. Barrel transitions from round to octagonal at the breech. Measures 1.37” in diameter at the breech.
In relic condition having been recovered at White Plains, New York. Surface is rusty and pitted. It has been coated with clear lacquer. Bore is clear and threads are visible inside the breech end.
A piece of note paper in the end identifies the recovery location. From the collection of author/publisher Dean Thomas; and he likely acquired it from Wendel Lang. [jet] [ph:L]
