This plate was meant to be worn on the sling of the drum and to hold the drumsticks when not in use.
The front of the plate is made of a sheet of thin brass with clipped corners. Mounted to the front by four copper rivets are two heavy brass cylindrical holders through which the drumsticks pass. These cylinders are slightly narrower than a drumstick and friction holds the sticks in place. Cylinders have a ribbed decorative motif.
Reverse does not have the attachment prongs.
Item was recovered at Chickamauga. [ad] [ph:L]
