Item Code: 490-5898

Like new wooden display case meas. 30.25 inches long x 12.00 inches wide x 3.00 inches deep contains a relic Model 1832 Artillery short sword and four musket tools all dug at Shiloh.

The sword has a full-length double-edged blade that is pitted throughout and wears a dark patina with light surface rust. No markings are visible. Cast brass hilt has a false feathered grip decoration with an oblong pommel at top with spread-winged eagle. Guard is straight and ends with a round quillon at each end. The grip was cast in two pieces and has three iron rivets or pins holding the two halves together. As displayed, the hilt looks perfect. However, removing the sword from the case will reveal that the opposite side of the grip is slightly crushed while its lower portion and part of the guard are missing.

With the sword is a modern printed label that reads “1832 ARTILLERY OFFICER SWORD – SHILOH.” Wording is flanked by two five-pointed stars, one blue and one red.

Also displayed in the case with the sword are a dug Austrian gun tool, a dug Austrian jag, a dug Model 1855 Springfield tool and the dug handle from an Enfield sergeant’s tool.

With the tools is a modern printed label that reads “VARIOUS GUN TOOLS – SHILOH.” Like the previous tag, the wording is flanked by a blue and red five-pointed star.   [ad][ph:L]

Additional shipping charge likely necessary; case and items weigh a total of 12 lbs 8 oz.
