This plate was recovered on the battlefield of Fussell’s Mill by Syd Kerksis, one of the legendary early relic hunters and collectors, author of books on military belt plates and Civil War projectiles. The plate comes with Kerksis’ original paper storage envelope bearing his ink notation that he found it in February of 1956 in the Confederate lines north of “the road.”

The face of the plate has a nice dark chocolate-brown patina and is free of any dings and dents. The eagle stamping is good.

Reverse has 98% of the lead fill with both rusted attachment loops.

Item comes displayed in a Riker box with the original storage envelope. [AD] [ph:L]
