This excavated Pattern 1839 oval US cartridge box plate has a beautiful smooth and even dark brown patina. The brass face has a central “US”, with one small dent under the “U” and one even smaller on the rim above the “S”.

The reverse has 100% of the lead fill remaining. The two iron loops are rusty and remain in place.
