Excavated “clipped corner” belt plate. Dark brown patina. Retains very good shape as most sheet brass plates were susceptible to bends and folds. This specimen exhibits no bends and only the most minor of dents on the face. Back of plate clearly shows three solder marks where belt hooks were once attached.
Recovered in the Fredericksburg, Virginia area.
A very nice example of this fragile style of belt plate. [jet] [ph:L]
