This interesting relic is the bottom from a 3” Hotchkiss canister.  Made of lead, this excavated relic is white with the rusty remains of the tin body around the circumference.  Cast into the lead is, “HOTCHKISS’ PATENT / 3 IN / JAN’Y 7 / 1862”.   A great relic for a Hotchkiss or artillery collection.   [jet]
