Wood trail spike with iron collar on the base meas. approx. 72.00 inches long. The wood has swelled and cracked a bit but is otherwise good.

The iron has been treated by electrolysis and has been preserved. Wood has been cleaned of all mud and dried. Small amounts are missing here and there. Condition of the item is very stable.

It is believed that this spike was recovered from the James River at City Point years ago.   [ad]
